Our Parents #relationshipgoals

Papa and Mama at my wedding.Papa and Mama at our wedding.

This is a very special post for today is my parents’ wedding anniversary! πŸ™‚ ❀

Theirs is my #relationshipgoals. I don’t mean to say it has always been smooth sailing and happy. Being the eldest, I have been a witness to the less-than-happy-moments. But what amazes me is how much respect, understanding and dedication they have for each other. How much love they have that in spite of differences (and I mean really different, almost opposite) and having gone through the hard times, they endure and even came out stronger.

Afterall, it is the hardships that make marriages, and for that matter, any relationship, stronger!

We, myself, my husband along with my siblings and their spouses, honour them for the great love that they have consistently showered us with through the years.

Love. They differ in the way with which they express love, however, both styles we need, we cherish and we are grateful for.

I just realized (seriously, as I type) that all of us are now leaders in our respective fields. Incidentally, we are also married to leaders. My brother and sister-in-law are both Project Managers in a Technology Consultancy Firm, my sister and brother-in-law are Leads in the school setting, Library and Computer Labs, respectively. I am Head of HR and my husband, Head of Operations. Come to think of it, my parents were also leaders when they were still working in the banking industry and UN.

I attribute this to our upbringing and the values they taught us. We were trained from childhood to not settle for less, to always do our best in anything we do, to think improvement and development in anything that’s entrusted to us and to not say “I cannot” before even trying.

Emile Therese: Ay hindi ko kaya, Pa.

Emil: Paano mo nasabi? Nasubukan mo na ba? Subukan mo muna.

We were also taught honesty, integrity, patience and kindness. To not talk if you have nothing good to say.

There’s so much more, they’re too many for a single blog post. πŸ™‚

Papa and Mama, we love you very much and thank you for all that you’ve done for us and for all that you are! πŸ™‚
